What is Petya Ransomware?

A new variant of the Petya ransomware (also called PetrWrap or GoldenEye) is behind a massive outbreak that spread across Europe, Russia, Ukraine, and elsewhere. It also includes the EternalBlue exploit to propagate inside a targeted network.

How do I stay Protected?

Ensure systems have the latest patches, including the one in Microsoft’s MS17-010 bulletin.

Back up regularly and keep a recent backup copy off-site and ensure it's encrypted!

Avoid opening attachments or clicking on links in emails from unknown recipients. Hover over the link before clicking and validate where it's taking you. If in doubt, DON'T CLICK!
